Located on 67 acres in the Citrus Park area, Big Cat Rescue is one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats. Our mission is to provide the best home we can for the cats in our care, end the abuse of big cats in captivity, and prevent the extinction of big cats in the wild.
We are home to lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars, servals, caracals, jaguar, and other species most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts.
Big Cat Rescue is one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for big cats. We offer school tours for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 60 people (including teachers and chaperones) in one day. The minimum age is ten years old or 5th-grade level.
Students experience a 90 minute guided walking tour of the sanctuary to observe and learn about a number of our nearly 70 residents of twelve different species. We discuss the individual stories of the cats, facts about the species, and the issues of wildlife in captivity. In many areas, you’ll see the cats as close as 3-6 feet away! Tours are tailored to the age of the students, and we do our best to address any questions students have related to their areas of interest or study.
To schedule a private tour for your school group, email us with your contact info, total group count (to include adults), and the date and time you would like to schedule the tour. A confirmation email will be sent with our release form once the tour is reserved.
Tours are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (we are closed on Thursdays). No weekends. Blackout dates in December, March, and April. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Tours are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (we are closed on Thursdays) anytime between 10 am – 1:30 pm. Groups must arrive 30 minutes before tour time, so please keep that in mind when choosing your time.
