The African Roots of American Cuisine

African American food ways can be traced back to Africa, along the stretches of Olduvai Gorge, from which humans had their common origin and where the first meals were eaten. In this lecture, Dr. Martha Bireda will discuss the journey of African foods from the village, the Middle Passage, into the cabins of the enslaved, kitchens of the Big House and on to the White House.
This event is free and open to the public, with refreshments served. Pre-registration is not require to attend this event.
