Free Film Screening: Do the Right Thing

Join us at CAM for a free film screening of Do the Right Thing. Pre-movie popcorn and snacks will be served at 6pm in front of the museum, and the movie starts at 6:30 inside. Artist Rico Gatson has selected three films to screen at CAM in conjunction with the exhibition Rico Gatson: Visible Time. Do the Right Thing (1989) was the 3rd film by Spike Lee. Starring John Turturro, Samuel L. Jackson, and many others including the film debut of Martin Lawrence and Rosie Perez. The story explores Brooklyn neighborhoods and racial tension between its African American residents and the Italian American owners of a local business. In 1999, the film was deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.For questions or more information please email caminfo@usf.edu or call (813) 974-4133.
