“Following Fernando’s Footsteps: A Tale of Tampa’s Invisible Immigrants”
Date
Location
Join us for the unveiling of a new exhibit on Spanish immigration based on a semi-fictitious book by Tampa native, Tony Carreño, entitled “Fernando’s Footsteps”, which chronicles the life of a young immigrant from Asturias to Tampa via Havana, Cuba. The exhibit follows the path of the many Spaniards, particularly those of Northwestern Spain, who immigrated to Tampa beginning in the late 1800s. It begins with their departure from the homeland and takes visitors through acculturation and and full integration into the US culture. Enjoy cultural entertainment and Spanish-style tapas and beverages.
