Night Raiders (2021), directed by Danis Goulet (Cree-Métis) and produced by Taika David Cohen (Iwi descendant), is a dystopian film set in 2044 North America. This sci-fi parable takes place in a future Canada under the oppressive rule of the “Regime,” where surveillance and parental pressure to send children to military academies are the norm. Niska, a Cree woman, joins a resistance movement to rescue her daughter from state-run institutions, serving as a poignant reminder to learn from the past while navigating the present.
