Painting the Impressionist Landscape

Artists may work in Oil, Pastel or Watercolor but all demonstrations will be in Oil
There is no better place to learn how to paint in plein air than Florida in winter!  Socially distancing is super easy outside!
This nine week course will have three short workshops in a series of morning classes when the light is most consistent.  We will start with color theory from still life outdoors with the sun as our light source under the blue dome of the sky.   This will give the student an opportunity to get to know their pallet and create beautiful blends of grays, and various temperatures of color.  Once we are familiar with our palette we will focus on Landscape to include the natural landscape as well as man made structures.  And finally the last few weeks we will include live models in landscape.
Kerry will demonstrate frequently and open this course to both beginning and advanced artists who want to take their painting to the next level.  Beginning artists will start with a smaller more manageable palette but have the added advantage of painting next to a more advanced student.  Students can expect frequent personal instruction at their easel.
Artists will do several offsite locations in beautiful locations like the Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum in St. Petersburg or Lowry Park next to the Zoo in Tampa insuring a variety of different types of landscape.  These will be announced in advance, be free of charge and have free parking and restroom close by.
We have a beautiful yard next to our building with bathrooms and covered area in case of inclement weather.  Full description and supply list will be sent via email upon registration.  Plein Air easels are recommended but easels are available at the studio for the first four classes.  Visiting Florida?  Drop ins are welcome for the day for a pro-rated price.  Call to schedule. 813-417-5867
