In 1957 London, Mrs. Ada Harris (Lesley Manville, Phantom Thread), a widowed cleaning lady, becomes obsessed with an haute couture Dior dress of one of her clients, and is overcome with the desire to buy her own. After suddenly receiving a war-widow’s pension, she embarks on an adventure to Paris to do so. She stumbles into a showing of Dior’s 10th anniversary collection and is befriended by the Dior accountant André (Lucas Bravo, Emily in Paris) and Natasha, a Dior model André has eyes for. However, the Dior director, Claudine (Isabelle Huppert, The Piano Teacher, Elle), resents Ada’s intrusion into the exclusive world of high fashion.

The famous house has fallen on hard financial times and because Ada is willing to pay in cash, they reluctantly agree to make a dress for her. While she remains in Paris for fittings, she befriends André and encourages him to become more outgoing. Meanwhile, when Claudine is forced to fire several of Dior’s workers due to financial constraints, Ada embarks on an adventure that will change not only her own outlook — but the very future of the House of Dior.

The third adaptation of the 1958 novel Mrs. ‘Arris Goes to Paris, the less-whimsically named film is a poignant, fanciful tale of a woman who refuses to settle for less than exactly what she wants.
