Dancing for the Stage – A Workshop for Beginners
Age 15 and up
Saturday, May 15th, 2021
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This movement/dance jam session will embrace the idea that every performer has unique and exciting contributions to make when it comes to dancing for the stage.
In order to do that, you have to learn your body. This workshop will take a beginner approach to 3 musical theatre dance styles and break down the combination, learning terminology and understanding what the choreographer wants to see.
The goal is for everyone to find their contribution in dance for the stage.
Instructor: Aaron Washington
Aaron Washington is an award-winning, Tampa based director, actor, dancer, choreographer and instructor. He recently won the Nancy Award for his direction of Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA, which he also choreographed. Other choreography credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The 1940s Radio Hour, The Wiz, Damn Yankees and The Music Man, to name a few.
Aaron recently appeared in American Son at Stageworks Theatre.
