Powerstories Theatre is seeking 10 youth playwrights (ages 8-18) of original plays, and performers (ages 8-18) of shorter works of original scenes, monologues, spoken word, song, dance with original music, and other talents for the global debut of Powerstories’ Voices of Youth Theatre Festival on July 16 – August 1, 2021!
A youth playwright’s play submission is for a matinee or evening performance in our theatre (with or without a socially distanced live audience) or a virtual production using the Powerstories platform. Each young playwright will be responsible for casting, directing, mounting the show in the theatre, and if applicable for pre-recorded submissions, recording the show via Zoom or other means, and editing for submission to the festival. If a playwright would appreciate assistance from a local director, Powerstories will match the artist with an experienced director.
Shorter works of original scenes, monologues, spoken word, songs, dance with original music, or other category submission are for our virtual live showcase.
Entry fee is $10 and Scholarships are available.
