New Study Looks at Financial Stability of Visual Artists

The Creative Independent, a website of practical guides for artists of all types and published by Kickstarter Inc., recently conducted an anonymous survey of visual artists. They asked 1,016 visual artists how they were able or unable to achieve financial stability. Their report, released earlier this month, gives a snapshot of how the art world works (and doesn’t work) to help visual artists make a living. A few key findings:

  • Almost half of respondents said that just 0-10% of their income was generated through their art practice. Only 17% said they were making 75%
