Thelma (June Squibb, Nebraska) is a 93-year old grandmother living alone in a Los Angeles condo. Widowed two years prior, she’s on the brink of losing her independence, one fall or forgotten keys away from full-time care. Her daughter, Gail (Parker Posey), and son-in-law, Alan (Clark Gregg), hawkishly scan for signs of her decline; only her beloved grandson Danny (Fred Hechinger), a lost twentysomething struggling with independence of a different variety, treats her like a full human being. But when she loses $10,000 in a phone scam, Thelma is determined to prove her doubters wrong by hopping on her scooter, loading her revolver and taking off across the city to get revenge.

The first feature from writer-director Josh Margolin, and based on an actual scam that happened to his own grandmother, Thelma is a warm and winning portrait of a woman refusing to give up her life and her dignity no matter her age (or her comfortable walking speed).

This screening is held in the Historic Duncan Auditorium. This space utilizes open seating for this event; seat selection is not required.
