Two young children — Kevin and Kaylee — wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing. That’s scary! And all the windows and doors in their home have vanished. That’s something beyond scary. Something older, and much worse.
Written and directed by Kyle Edward Ball (his first feature) and filmed on a scant (and mostly crowdfunded) $15,000 budget to look like a mid-‘70s horror flick you’re watching on videotape, Skinamarink is a dark, upsetting, dread-soaked poke at childhood fears that has transfixed audiences at previews and film festivals. And now it’s been set loose on courageous fans at Tampa Theatre! What better way to celebrate the first Friday the 13th of 2023?
