Reconnect with New Tampa Players with Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical at Uptown Stage, at the University Mall.
Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical with book by Melvin Tunstall III, music by Greg Borowsky, and and Books, Lyrics and Original Music by Douglas Lyons, follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying to segregated drinking fountains, Lily’s quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polkadot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by the events of The Little Rock 9, Polkadots serves as a colorful history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.
New Tampa Players has COVID-19 Guidelines in place to ensure a safe environment for our cast, volunteers, and audience. All audience members are asked to wear a mask while inside Uptown Stage. We are limiting the audience size to 20 to ensure social distancing. We will also have each audience member do a short health questionnaire and have their temperature taken at the door.
This play is appropriate for all ages.
We understand that everyone has different comfort levels about being in public at this time. If you cannot come to see the show in person, but would like to support New Tampa Players and the cast and crew of Polkadots, please choose the $10 I Heart NTP donation and we will put a heart with your name on it on one of our empty seats.
