(Due to COVID-19, the production will be performed live, virtually via Powerstories Theatre’s digital platform.)

Susan Glaspell’s Trifles is based on the true court case of the murder of a farmer on December 2, 1900, in rural Iowa. Glaspell covered the case and the trial as a reporter for Des Moines Daily News. A man has been strangled in his rustic farmhouse. His widow is in the house, but she’s not confessed and there’s no evidence. A neighbor can testify only to discovering the body and the widow’s strange behavior. While Trifles portrays a homicide that took place over 120 years ago it still stands today as a cautionary tale.
