Apply to the Emerging Artists Program at Gasparilla Festival of the Arts

The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts (GFA) is seeking applicants for its 2023 Emerging Artists Program.  The Emerging Artists Program offers artists who are ready to kickstart their career the opportunity to present and sell their work to the more than 20,000 patrons who attend the Festival each year.

GFA defines an emerging artist as one who makes less than 25 percent of their income from their art and does not have an established record as a professional artist showing their work in museums, art centers, major galleries or juried art exhibitions.  There is no age restriction.  The 2023 event will include 15 emerging artists.  Each of the 15 artists will be provided a booth and a $350 stipend for supplies as well as mentoring from established Tampa Bay artists.  The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts takes place in Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park on March 4 & 5, 2023 and applicants must be available to attend in person.

The simple application process will remain open until November 27, 2022.  Emerging Artist juror, Tampa-based artist and educator Selina Román, will review the submissions and choose this year’s class of Emerging Artists.  Curator and writer Allison Glenn, GFA’s 2023 awards juror, will choose the winner of the Emerging Artist Award from among the EA class on Festival weekend.   The award includes a $1,500 cash prize.

The application fee is $10 and only requires submission of three high-resolution, digital images to represent the applicant’s work. For more information on the festival and the Emerging Artists program, follow the link below or email EmergingArtists@gasparillaarts.com.
