Patricia Kluwe Derderian

Patricia Derderian is a Brazilian and Italian citizen who has lived in the United States since 2015, with her husband and little boy.She has always loved to draw, and the smell of her uncle’s colored pencils inspired her to major in architecture (since art was not an option in the small city where she was raised). Before coming to the United States, she worked as an architect where she used art to express projects and ideas. It also became her way of thinking. In her work, she first draws freely and loosely the subject of the paintings. After that, she lets her feelings guide her while putting color inside the lines, one after the other without any real commitment to reality. She lets the energy flow and the painting tell her what it wants to be. The real subject for her is the people that are there very loosely represented by little dots and forms, but that are the real creators of the place. Without people, our cities, monuments and buildings are cold and lifeless. It’s the energy of the place that she tries to paint.
