Lauren Murphy

I am the owner, director, and instructor at Tampa Suzuki Strings music studio.

I have a passion for teaching students of any age. I am a performer myself; I play violin, viola, piano, I dabble in a couple of other instruments. I want to bring my joy of playing and feeling of accomplishment to my students. To do that, I will help you with the technical aspects of playing to make performing music easier.  That’s it.  Practice the skills we work on at lessons or group classes and the music will get easier and bring you more joy.

I moved to Tampa after winning an audition with The Florida Orchestra. After performing as a member of The Florida Orchestra for 18 years, I started Tampa Suzuki Strings, a music studio in Tampa servicing all of Hillsborough County and neighboring counties Pinellas and Pasco.

I have extensive experience teaching students of all levels. Suzuki students as young as 3 years old are inspired by elementary-aged students and middle school musicians in my studio. As the students advance into high school, they add a level of maturity with goals for the future which excite me as a teacher.  Adult students continue to inspire and energize me with their continued goals and hard work.

My registered Suzuki teacher training in Suzuki violin books 1,2,3,4,9,10; viola book 4, and books 1-6 overview has allowed me the tools needed to help my students. I continue to advance my teaching skills through workshops, seminars, and masterclasses.

Lauren Murphy was awarded a 2017 individual artist grant from the Hillsborough Arts Council. This award is in recognition of her individual artistry in the Tampa bay area.
