Joy Katzen-Guthrie

Composer/lyricist, pianist/vocalist, recording/concert artist, writer/speaker/educator Joy Katzen-Guthrie is devoted to uplifting and empowering through the arts. A Memphis native whose home has been in the Tampa Bay area since 1981, she contributes to programs of musical, cultural, historical, continuing education, and spiritual content in the Tampa Bay community and beyond in a wide variety of programs for congregations, theatrical, educational, arts and cultural institutions.

She has since 2000 contributed to lifelong education programs as a concert artist and instructor, (Eckerd and USF OLLI, Eckerd Elderhostel/Road Scholar, Grand Edventures, Academia Hernando and dozens more). With a repertoire of 4,000+ songs from pop, stage, film, and world genres and original music and extensive knowledge of entertainment culture and history in concert and classroom, Joy weaves music and history in insightful and entertaining one-of-a-kind concert retrospectives.

Joy hosts Tampa Bay’s longtime broadcast, The Sunday Simcha on WMNF 88.5 FM, for which she received the 2019 WMNF New Programmer of the Year Award. She has served congregations as a Cantorial Leader since 1990. She and her husband operate Tune-of-the-Century Music® recording/studio design/sound integration and reinforcement in Palm Harbor.
